Hurricane Blues

Power was out for 3 days after Hurricane Dolly rolled out. Still getting life back in order. Will post soon. I promise. Hope everyone is safe.

My power was restored somewhere between about 36 and 42 hours after loosing it. My parents had electricity on Thursday night, so I slept there that night. I was feeling sorry for myself about the whole thing, until I started realizing that many people didn't get theirs until much later and some still don't have it.

It really pained me to have to replace groceries that went bad, but then again, some people had flood damage or lost their vehicles, so I got off easy.

Hope everyone is ok.

Get this. Within the past week and a half or two weeks, whatever it's been, I and my parents (not to mention other relatives and friends who live in the Valley) have been hit with a hurricane; (Thankfully weakened somewhat as it came inland.); my sister Anna and her family (who live in Vegas) were in an Earthquake while vacationing in the LA area; and now it looks as if my other sister, who lives in Houston may be hit with a tropical storm/hurricane (Edouard) in the next day or so.

But I will say that, barring any unexpected troubles she might have, that we have been fortunate that the outcomes have not been worse. As of the last advisory, Edouard had weakened (though it's likely to pick up strength a bit before making landfall), and she does live a bit inland in an area not prone to flooding. And from watching the "cone of probability," I'd say that it's not too likely that the eyewall (or whatever is left of it by the time it gets there) is not likely to pass too close to her.

We shall watch the situation with a great deal of optimism.
